From those early, pioneering days, the Pioneer Cup was born — a tournament designed to honour the players and community members who helped establish football in our region.

Rather than following traditional club formats, the Pioneer Cup stays true to its roots by mixing things up: players are randomly selected from across all leagues to form teams. The result? A fun, competitive day of football where players who might normally face off as rivals come together as teammates.

It’s more than just a tournament — it’s a tribute to the people who laid the foundations for football in the South West, and a reminder of the community spirit that continues to drive the game today.

Each year, the Pioneer Cup continues to capture what makes South West football so special: camaraderie, connection, and a shared passion that’s been passed down through generations.

A nod to our past, and a celebration of our future — that’s the Pioneer Cup.
